Spellbook Ranks Third Among Canada’s Top Growing Companies

News Brief, September 29, 2026

Spellbook has placed third on The Globe and Mail’s 2026 ranking of Canada’s Top Growing Companies, reporting three-year revenue growth of 5,826% as the legal AI company expands its workforce and product lineup.

The ranking, now in its eighth year, measures revenue growth using financial information submitted by participating companies. Spellbook announced the recognition on September 28 alongside an update on its Canadian expansion.

The company says it has doubled its headcount, with its Canadian team reaching 197 employees across Toronto, Vancouver, and Newfoundland. Spellbook opened a new Toronto headquarters in January and now serves more than 5,000 law firms and in-house legal teams across over 80 countries.

“It’s been an incredible year of global traction for Spellbook,” said Scott Stevenson, co-founder and CEO.

Spellbook also reported that its platform has reviewed more than 10 million contracts. Stevenson was separately named to Canada’s Top 40 Under 40.

The recognition follows a series of product launches that have broadened Spellbook’s focus beyond AI-assisted drafting and contract review.

As LegalTech.ca previously reported, the company launched Autonomous Contract Management in June. The platform is designed to handle agreements from intake and review through storage, renewal tracking, and post-signature monitoring, bringing more of the contract lifecycle into one system.

In August, Spellbook introduced an AI document editor within its Associate agent, allowing lawyers to inspect, revise, and approve changes across multiple documents without exporting them to Microsoft Word.

The company is also adding leadership to support that expansion. Last week, Spellbook appointed former Deel growth leader Meltem Kuran-Berkowitz as chief marketing officer, following several months in an interim role. She is overseeing global growth and marketing as Spellbook builds out its broader suite for legal teams.
