LexisNexis Canada is bringing together judges from New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador for a timely discussion about how artificial intelligence is affecting legal proceedings and court operations.
Taking place on September 17, the one-hour webinar, AI in the Atlantic Courts: Current State and Perspectives, will feature the Honourable Maya Hamou of the Court of King’s Bench of New Brunswick and the Honourable Peter Browne of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Moderated by LexisNexis Canada Managing Director Eric Wai, the conversation will examine how counsel, parties and courts are already using AI, as well as the ethical, reliability and governance concerns emerging alongside the technology.
The panel will also consider how courts should respond to AI-generated material submitted in legal proceedings, what safeguards may be needed to protect judicial integrity and where AI could improve court operations or reduce barriers to justice.
With an Atlantic Canadian lens, the judges will explore the developments likely to shape courts across the region over the coming years.
