LexisNexis Canada is bringing its national conversation on artificial intelligence and the courts to Ontario this month, with a webinar featuring judges from three levels of the province’s court system.
The webinar, titled Artificial Intelligence and the Ontario Courts: Current State and Perspectives, is scheduled for June 18, 2026.
The Ontario session is part of LexisNexis Canada’s new national webinar series, AI and the Courts, which brings together chief justices, associate chief justices, and judges from multiple levels of courts across Canadian jurisdictions to discuss how artificial intelligence is being considered within the justice system.
The series launched in Québec on May 6, 2026, with Ontario scheduled to follow in June. LexisNexis Canada says additional sessions will be held throughout the year across most Canadian jurisdictions, with the national series continuing into early 2027.
The Ontario webinar will focus on how courts are responding to the rise of AI, including its use by counsel and parties in legal proceedings, as well as within the courts themselves.
According to LexisNexis Canada, the broader series is designed to explore the opportunities, challenges, and responsibilities associated with AI adoption within the judicial system. Topics include the integration of legal AI tools, ongoing pilot projects, implementation challenges, and the potential use of AI to support legal research, drafting, case management, and decision-support functions.
The discussions will also examine whether AI can meaningfully improve access to justice, while addressing the need for transparency, fairness, accountability, and judicial independence as courts and legal professionals navigate the technology’s growing role.
The Ontario panel will feature The Honourable Justice Peter D. Lauwers of the Court of Appeal for Ontario; The Honourable Justice Fred Myers of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice; The Honourable Justice Jill R. Presser of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice; and The Honourable Justice Joseph F. Kenkel of the Ontario Court of Justice.
Eric Wai, Director of Client Relationships at LexisNexis Canada, will moderate the discussion.
For lawyers, legal professionals, academics, public sector leaders, and justice stakeholders, the webinar offers a chance to hear directly from members of the judiciary on one of the most significant transformations currently affecting the legal sector.
LexisNexis Canada says the Ontario session will provide insight into how courts are responding to AI’s growing impact on legal proceedings.
