Stewart McKelvey is rolling out Legora firmwide, scaling collaborative AI across Atlantic Canada’s largest law firm following a successful pilot.
Stewart McKelvey, Atlantic Canada’s largest law firm and one of the country’s 20 largest, has announced a firmwide rollout of Legora, expanding its use of artificial intelligence across the organization following a comprehensive pilot.
The decision marks a significant step in the firm’s long-standing strategy to integrate technology into the delivery of legal services at scale. Legora is a collaborative AI platform designed specifically for legal professionals, supporting research, drafting, and analysis within secure enterprise environments.
“This is an investment in our people and clients,” said Lydia Bugden, K.C., Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of Stewart McKelvey. “We will thoughtfully integrate Legora into our firm over the next year. Delivering outstanding client service comes first, and this rollout reflects our commitment to responsible yet bold adoption of AI in alignment with our values.”
The firm said the rollout follows extensive testing and evaluation, building on nearly a decade of internal strategy and innovation work focused on improving how legal services are delivered.
“This decision is the culmination of years of testing tools to support cutting-edge legal service delivery,” said Paul Saunders, Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer and Partner. “Partnering with Legora enables our people to continue delivering the highest quality of legal work, which has always been central to our firm.”
For Legora, the partnership reflects growing momentum among large law firms moving from pilot projects to enterprise-wide AI adoption.
“Stewart McKelvey is demonstrating what it looks like to move beyond experimentation to a thoughtful, firmwide rollout,” said Max Junestrand, CEO and co-founder of Legora. “After a successful pilot, they are scaling AI in a way that supports both their people and their clients.”
Legora’s platform is now used by tens of thousands of legal professionals daily and supports more than 550 customers across more than 50 markets globally. Stewart McKelvey’s rollout reflects a broader shift among leading firms toward embedding AI as a foundational capability rather than a standalone tool.
