NetDocuments signs agreement to acquire OpenText’s eDOCS business, expanding its legal document management platform pending regulatory approval.
NetDocuments has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire eDOCS, OpenText’s legal document management solution (DMS). The transaction, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions, is expected to close in early 2026.
Under the deal, NetDocuments will acquire eDOCS’ technical assets, intellectual property, and dedicated personnel. Following the close, eDOCS customers and partners will continue to be fully supported, with the option to transition into NetDocuments’ intelligent, cloud-based legal DMS over time.
“Our commitment has always been to help legal professionals do their best work,” said Josh Baxter, CEO of NetDocuments. “Following the close of the transaction, eDOCS customers, employees, and partners will benefit from being part of a company that lives and breathes legal document management — and from the innovation and care that come from a singular focus on this domain. We are excited to extend our community, ensuring continuity today and transformative opportunities in the future.”
NetDocuments and OpenText will begin integration planning immediately, in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements. Until closing, both companies will continue to operate independently, with no changes to customer commitments or day-to-day operations.
The acquisition underscores NetDocuments’ continued push to grow its global footprint in legal document management, expanding its customer base while reinforcing its position as a cloud-native platform purpose-built for legal professionals.
