The Legal Innovation & Technology subreddit is quietly becoming a gathering place for serious legaltech discussion, and this month it is hosting one of its most notable guests yet.
Founded two years ago, the subreddit attracts roughly 13,000 weekly visitors and is aimed at legal professionals interested in improving the practice of law through technology. In recent months, it has hosted Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions with several leading legaltech vendors, including Legora, Litera, and Harvey. It will close out the year with an AMA featuring Clio founder and CEO Jack Newton.
Newton will host a live AMA thread on Thursday, December 18th and answer questions in real time. Community members can post questions in advance and upvote those they would most like to see addressed, or join the discussion live during the session.
Clio’s participation stands out not only because of its prominence in legal technology, but also because of how much the company has evolved since its launch. Founded in 2008, Clio was among the first companies to introduce cloud-based legal practice management software. Seventeen years later, it has grown into one of the most influential platforms in the legal industry.
2025 has been a particularly transformative year for the Vancouver-based company. In March, Clio acquired ShareDo, marking its first major move into the Big Law market, with ShareDo serving firms such as DLA Piper, Linklaters, Freshfields, and Herbert Smith Freehills. In November, Clio closed its US$1 billion acquisition of vLex, the largest transaction in legaltech history, adding Vincent AI and access to a legal library comprising more than one billion documents.
Following its Series G round, Clio is now valued at approximately US$5 billion. The company reports more than US$400 million in annual recurring revenue, serves over 400,000 legal professionals worldwide, is profitable, and employs roughly 2,000 people globally.
For legal professionals and legaltech watchers alike, the AMA offers a rare opportunity to engage directly with one of the sector’s most influential founders during a pivotal moment in Clio’s evolution.
