Clio Brings Canadian Case Law to Vincent Legal AI Platform

News Brief, September 23, 2026

Clio has added Canadian case law and legislation to Vincent, expanding its legal AI platform to support research, drafting, and analysis for Canadian law firms.

The launch builds on Clio’s June acquisition of Jurisage, a Canadian legal AI and data company. As LegalTech.ca previously reported, that deal brought Canadian legal data and litigation drafting expertise into Clio’s growing platform.

The collection has since grown from more than 470,000 Canadian cases to over 567,000 judicial decisions, alongside federal and provincial legislation.

Clio says the dataset has been ingested and validated to meet Vincent’s standards, supporting matters involving multiple jurisdictions, extensive document collections, and complex legal arguments.

“Canadian firms are working on increasingly complex matters that demand both speed and confidence in the underlying law,” said Jack Newton, CEO and founder of Clio.

“Bringing Canadian authority into Vincent gives lawyers a much larger canvas for what they can confidently ask AI to do, from sophisticated research across jurisdictions to analyzing extensive records and developing complex legal arguments.”

According to Clio, Vincent grounds its responses in authoritative legal sources, allowing lawyers to trace outputs to underlying authorities. The platform also supports citation verification, checking existing citations against the law.

Coverage extends across Canada’s common law provinces. Quebec and Nunavut legislation remain in progress.

The announcement follows the Canadian launch of Clio Work in July. That workspace combines Canadian legal authority with the context of individual matters, including documents, deadlines, communications, and notes, to support research, strategy, and drafting.

Adding Canadian authority to Vincent represents another step in Clio’s investment in domestic legal AI, extending the reach of the Jurisage dataset across its research and analysis tools.
