Harvey Raises $550 Million as Valuation Climbs to $15.5 Billion

News Brief, September 9, 2026

Legal artificial intelligence leader Harvey has raised US$550 million at a US$15.5 billion valuation as it looks to deepen its role inside the world’s largest law firms and corporate legal departments.

The round was co-led by new investors Diffusion and Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Kleiner Perkins, Andreessen Horowitz, Coatue Management, Conviction, GIC, Goldman Sachs, Sapphire Ventures, Elad Gil, Whale Rock Capital Management and Verified Capital.

Harvey plans to use the capital to expand its products, scale model training and grow its global team. The company’s broader ambition is to help legal and professional services organizations build proprietary intelligence from their own expertise, data and workflows rather than relying solely on general-purpose AI systems.

Founded in 2022 by former lawyer Winston Weinberg and former DeepMind researcher Gabriel Pereyra, Harvey develops AI tools for legal research, contract analysis, due diligence, compliance and litigation. Its platform is designed for law firms and in-house teams seeking to embed AI across their day-to-day work.

The company says it has now surpassed US$400 million in annual recurring revenue and serves more than 3,000 customers. Its users include 80 percent of the 100 highest-grossing U.S. law firms, 20 percent of the Fortune 500 and half of the Fortune 10.

The financing comes less than six months after Harvey raised US$200 million at an US$11 billion valuation. The latest deal therefore adds US$4.5 billion to its valuation while underscoring the extraordinary pace of investment flowing into legal AI.

Harvey also announced the acquisition of San Francisco-based Guardrails AI, a security platform for AI agents. Financial terms were not disclosed. It marks Harvey’s fourth acquisition of the year as the company expands the technology and safeguards underpinning its platform.

The funding further raises the stakes in an increasingly well-capitalized legal AI market. Swedish rival Legora raised US$550 million at a US$5.55 billion valuation earlier this year, while legal technology company Clio secured US$500 million at a US$5 billion valuation in late 2025.

With Harvey now valued at more than three times Clio’s level, investors are making an aggressive bet that AI will become a foundational layer of legal work—and that the companies controlling how professional knowledge is organized and applied will capture a significant share of the value.
