Clio is expanding access to legal AI through a new collaboration with The Florida Bar, marking the first deployment of its Preferred Bar Program.
Announced at the 2026 Florida Bar Annual Convention in Orlando, the program will give eligible Florida Bar members four months of unlimited access to Clio Work, the company’s AI-powered legal workspace. Members will also receive continued limited access after the initial period, along with legal AI training and a certification path focused on responsible and ethical use.
The Florida Bar is the first state bar in the United States to offer complimentary legal AI access as part of membership, according to Clio.
For Clio, the collaboration represents a significant step in its push to make purpose-built legal AI more widely available to practicing lawyers. The company says its Preferred Bar Program is designed to move beyond discounted software offerings by giving bar associations a way to provide members with direct access to legal AI tools.
Clio Work is built to support legal research, analysis, and strategy by interpreting matter details, files, and legal authorities. The platform is grounded in Clio’s library of more than one billion primary legal documents across all 50 states and federal jurisdictions.
The launch also comes as more lawyers experiment with AI tools in their practices, raising questions around accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical use. Clio positioned the Florida Bar collaboration as a way to help lawyers adopt AI in a more structured and profession-specific environment.
Philip Rosenthal, Head of Bar and Academic Partnerships at Clio, said the program gives lawyers access to legal AI designed for the realities of legal work, while helping address concerns around generic AI tools and their potential risks.
Florida Bar President Sia Baker-Barnes said the collaboration will help members navigate new technology responsibly, combining access to Clio Work with training and education to support professional and reliable use.
“We’re proud to be first and leading the nation,” Baker-Barnes said.
The benefit will become available to registered Florida Bar members later this year, with additional rollout details expected during the Florida Bar Convention.
For Clio, the Florida partnership is the first step in a broader effort to bring trusted legal AI to practicing lawyers through bar associations across the United States.
