Thomson Reuters Launching CoCounsel Legal Canada in Vancouver

News Brief, May 19, 2026

Thomson Reuters is bringing its latest legal AI platform to Canada with the launch of CoCounsel Legal Canada, an integrated interface designed specifically for the Canadian market.

The company will host an in-person launch event on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver, where legal professionals will get a first look at the new platform through a live product demonstration, demo stations, and networking with peers and Thomson Reuters product experts.

CoCounsel Legal Canada is designed to bring research, analysis, and drafting into one seamless experience, helping lawyers and legal teams work faster across the workflows they rely on every day.

Grounded in trusted Westlaw and Practical Law content, the platform is positioned by Thomson Reuters as professional-grade support for Canadian legal professionals at a time when firms and in-house legal teams are looking for practical, secure, and reliable ways to adopt AI.

The June 10 event will introduce attendees to CoCounsel Legal’s core capabilities and Thomson Reuters’ broader vision for the next era of legal AI. The company says the platform supports research, drafting, document analysis, and strategic legal work from a single query.

Attendees will also be able to explore use cases for both litigation and transactional matters, with demo stations offering a closer look at workflows relevant to their teams.

The launch comes as the Canadian legal sector continues to move from AI experimentation toward adoption inside day-to-day legal work. For many firms, the central question is no longer whether generative AI will play a role in legal services, but which tools can be trusted for professional use.

By grounding CoCounsel Legal Canada in Thomson Reuters’ established legal content, including Westlaw and Practical Law, the company is aiming to position the platform as more than a general-purpose AI assistant. Instead, Thomson Reuters is presenting it as an integrated legal workflow tool built around the needs of Canadian lawyers.
